Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in West Virginia. This role involves providing high-quality care for patients with diverse cardiac and medical conditions, including post-surgical recovery, seizures, and cardiac patients. The position emphasizes monitoring, assessing, and supporting patients in a 12-hour night shift setting within an acute care environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); 2 years of experience in Step Down or Progressive Care Unit (PCU); licensed to practice in the state of West Virginia; must include a copy of unexpired driver`s license at submission
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac monitoring and titrating drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Angiomax; comfortable with troubleshooting respiratory equipment and interpreting telemonitor strips; familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Duties: Administering medications and titrating drips, monitoring cardiac rhythms, providing ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), vital signs, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, blood glucose checks
• Float: Float rotation may be required to any inpatient unit
• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
• Orientation: 2-day general orientation plus 1-day with a preceptor
• Additional Information: Responsibility for troubleshooting respiratory equipment and reading telemetry strips; in-house hospitalist and intensivist coverage 24/7, with respiratory therapists available around the clock; no call or standby requirements; holiday rotation possible
