Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down units is needed at a healthcare organization in Newburgh, Indiana. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a 16-bed step down unit, primarily during daytime shifts. The role requires demonstrating expertise in cardiac and neuro assessments, trauma care, and post-surgical monitoring, with opportunities for cross-campus float and collaborative teamwork.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour days, shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Certifications & Experience: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS required. Minimum of 2 years RN experience, including 1 full year in a step down unit, recent EPIC charting experience, and at least one travel assignment. Trauma level II experience is preferred.
  • Responsibilities include interpreting Telemetry/12-lead EKGs, initiating and titrating IV drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, Insulin), performing post-surgical assessments, and conducting NIHSS and neuro assessments.
  • Additional Qualifications: Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, resilient work ethic, adaptable to change, excellent teamwork, and social candidates preferred.
  • Location: Healthcare facility located at 4011 Gateway Blvd, Newburgh, IN.
  • Float and Call Requirements: First to float within skillset to nearby campuses with 2-hour notice; no on-call responsibilities.
  • Holiday & Weekend Rotation: Three weekends out of every six weeks and every other holiday.
  • Interview Days: Monday through Friday, MSP interview types.
