Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room Registered Nurse position in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This assignment involves providing high-quality emergency nursing care in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department. The role requires a dedicated professional to deliver patient-centered care utilizing critical thinking and clinical expertise to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 6:30 pm to 7:00 am; 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency room nursing; certifications including ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), and ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) are required. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have at least 2 years of ER nursing experience. All travelers are required to complete fingerprinting as mandated by the state of New Mexico, which can take several weeks. The position involves floating to different departments and working with a patient ratio of 4:1. Scrub color is not specified, full uniform required. EMR system used is MedHost (EDIS). The role includes shift accountability for all aspects of patient care within the scope of the nursing practice act and hospital policies, fostering safe patient care through clinical judgment, leadership, and ongoing education.
• Call Requirement: Call at least 2 hours prior to shift start
• Patient Care Setting: Emergency Department, Level 3 Trauma
• Additional Notes: No scheduled blocked shifts; 48-hour guarantees are not approved. RTO blackout periods include 1 summer and 1 winter, depending on departmental needs. Floating is required for this role.
