Registered Nurse / Operating Room

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Illinois. This position involves providing specialized surgical nursing care across a variety of service lines in a high-volume acute care hospital. The role offers an opportunity to work in a Level I trauma center with diverse case types and a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 8-hour shifts, minimum 40 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026
• Required Qualifications: APO certification with at least 2.0 years of OR experience, Illinois license in hand or in application process, BLS certification, Level I trauma experience, surgical case skills including laparoscopic, trauma, neurology, orthopedic, plastic surgery, transplant urology, and emergency management skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Cerner charting system experience.
• Certifications: BLS, CNOR, CST.
• Additional Information: Must have experience with general surgery cases such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, and laparoscopic surgeries. Trauma experience includes amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injuries from motor vehicle accidents. The candidate must be capable of working with all service lines except cardiovascular. Work within a Level I trauma facility with multidisciplinary support services and a mix of critical care responsibilities. Float may be required within scope of skill set. Operates on a block schedule with specific on-call and weekend rotation requirements.

  • Patient Ratios: Nights and weekends as per hospital standards
  • Additional supports include IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation, laboratory, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
  • Must adhere to compliance requirements including completed lab appointment, DocuSign documentation, and badge photo within 1 week of contract signing.
  • Orientation is virtual and at-home, with module completion on Day 1.
  • Floating within scope is generally rare but may be required occasionally to meet facility needs.
  • Candidate must meet all travel compliance protocols, including SSN and DOB submission, interview availability, and license verification.
