Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Oncology Floor

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor nurse position is based in a healthcare facility in Dallas, Texas. This role involves providing specialized care on an oncology unit with a focus on hematology/oncology patients, including those undergoing bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy. The nurse will be responsible for delivering compassionate patient care in a fast-paced environment, following unit policies and safety precautions.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: RN license, BLS certification, oncology background required, candidates with hematology/oncology experience and chemotherapy certification preferred. No specific minimum years of experience required beyond one year.
• Preferred Qualifications: Hematology/Oncology background, chemotherapy certification.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The unit has approximately 8-12 patients during peak times, with a staffing ratio of 1:3/4, flexing to 5. The unit utilizes Meditech EMR system. Typical procedures include replacing blood products and managing electrolytes. The dress code is royal blue scrubs, and strict infection control policies including neutropenic precautions are in place. Weekend rotations are in place, with no on-call responsibilities.
