Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Neurology Floor

Job Summary:
Neuro Surgical Medical Surgical Nurse (MS NEURO) Newburgh, Indiana. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients in a fast-paced, teaching hospital environment. The position requires strong assessment skills and critical thinking to support patient recovery following neuro and neuro-surgical procedures.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour days, from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Start Date: 08/24/2026
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact nursing license; AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications; at least two years of neuro nursing experience, including at least one travel assignment and trauma level II experience; recent EPIC charting experience (will be required to do a checkoff class).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NIHSS/dysphagia screening, neuro assessments, tele-interpretation, and management of neuro-specific procedures like heparin titration, blood administration, NG tubes, and drain management.
• Additional Information: The position involves caring for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op cranials, and cerebral angiograms. The unit has 37 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 during days and 1:5-7 during nights. The role may include precepting students or new-hires and requires adherence to COVID-19 vaccination policies as subject to change. Float rotation may include float within the same campus or to nearby campuses with a 2-hour notice.
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with three weekends out of every six-week schedule, and every other holiday.
