Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Dickinson, North Dakota. This position involves providing care to obstetric patients within a rural hospital setting, following AWHONN (Association of Women`s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) guidelines. The role emphasizes teamwork, provider consistency, independence, and strong communication skills to succeed in a limited-service environment.

Job Details:

• Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts
• Schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with every third weekend and holiday as needed
• Start Date: 08/24/2026
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics, or a related field; valid license to submit
• Patient Population and Typical Diagnoses: Patients over 35 weeks in labor, Mom/Baby couplets, including antepartum, labor, and postpartum patients with diagnoses such as magnesium, oxytocin, LR, Zofran, prenatal vitamins, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, Percocet, and Toradol
• Unit Details: 4 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds, 7 postpartum beds
• Provider Ratios: Labor: 1:1-2, Postpartum: 1:2-3
• Supervisory and Staffing Details: Charge nurse available on each shift, with the charge nurse taking an assignment; floating to medical-surgical unit/Emergency Department for additional help, primarily sitting 1:1 with patients
• Equipment and Responsibilities: RNs required to troubleshoot Neonatal Ventilators including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices; operate Electronic Fetal Monitoring system (OB Trace Vue)
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation, each 12 hours
• Additional Notes: This is a rural hospital located over an hour from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with limited services. Independence, teamwork, and communication are key attributes for success. Surgery team manages cesarean sections, with RNs circulating for deliveries.
• Travel and Scheduling Restrictions: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization or affiliated entities within a 50-mile radius. RTO (Return to Office) must be requested at least 7 days prior to the start of the assignment; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
• System Used: MEDITECH charting system.
