Operating Room Tech / Operating Room Open Heart

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist specializing in open heart procedures is needed in Reston, Virginia. This position involves supporting complex cardiac surgeries, including CABG, MVR, TVR, and AVR procedures, in a dynamic and fast-paced hospital environment. The role requires a proactive, team-oriented approach with a focus on patient safety and efficient surgical operations.

Job Details:

• Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Years of Experience: 1 year required (minimum experience: 0)
• Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred
• Schedule: RN 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, RN 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, CST 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, CST 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday
• Float Policy: Float to main operating rooms
• Qualifications: Teamwork, scrub or circulate procedures, room setup and turnover, handling disposables and instrument sets, sterile technique, central line setup, arterial line setup, Belmont set up and operation, cell saver setup
• Unit Specifics:
  • Number of beds: 2
  • Patient ratios: 1:1
  • Equipment: Belmont, ESU, positioning equipment
  • Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
  • Staffing: Board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, ancillary assistance for room turnovers
• Procedures Performed: Open heart surgeries including CABG, MVR, TVR, AVR, VATS, vascular procedures
• Additional info: Focus on excellent communication skills with patients, provider relations, teamwork, and proactive planning to anticipate potential issues.
