Registered Nurse / Operating Room

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Operating Room (OR) Nurse for a position in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized surgical patient care within a busy acute care hospital environment. The successful candidate will work within a Level I trauma center, supporting a range of service lines excluding cardiovascular procedures, and will be expected to work a rotating shift schedule.

Job Details:

• Shift: Rotating, 10-hour shifts
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, start date on 08/31/2026
• Required Qualifications: Minimum 2.5 years of experience in an operating room setting; active Illinois nursing license or in the application process; BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Cerner charting experience; Level I trauma experience; experience with laparoscopic assisted cases, general surgery such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, cervical fusion, craniotomy, laparoscopic gynecological procedures, organ donation, urology procedures including cystoscopy and nephrectomy, trauma cases such as amputations and multiple injuries, and emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia.
• Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred.
• Additional Information: Must be willing to work with all service lines except cardiovascular; will work with all patient age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics; hospital staffing includes interdisciplinary support teams such as IV teams, respiratory services, and radiology. Floating within scope may be required rarely.
