Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical With Telemetry

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical with Telemetry at a healthcare organization in Macon, Georgia. This role involves providing patient care in a busy, team-oriented unit with a focus on cardiac monitoring and managing various common diagnoses. The position requires a professional comfortable with multitasking and managing multiple patient needs within a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Location: 777 Hemlock Street, Macon, GA 31201
• Shift Time: Nights
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience, proficiency in cardiac drips, and ability to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding.
• Patient Care: Med Surg / Telemetry all inpatient med surg units, patient ratios of RN: 1:4-6, LPN: 1:4-6, CNA: up to 1:14.
• Patient Types: Common diagnoses include inpatient med surg cases; experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometers, insulin drips, heparin drips, and titrating drips to HR.
• Support Team: CNAs assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, and patient mobilization; unit secretaries and charge nurses available.
• Additional Operations: Phlebotomy on most units, PICC team support, discharge nurses, and float resource nurses available.
• Technology/Equipment: EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, Nova Glucose test strips, vital sign monitors, and other unit-specific equipment.
• Orientation: One day of facility orientation plus two days of departmental training.
• Floating: Assigned to float across all Med/Telemetry units as needed.
